Cavite gov temporarily vacates office after 4 employees contract COVID-19
LUCENA CITY – Cavite Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla has to temporarily vacate his office after four of his employees contracted coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a public notice posted on his Facebook page at 5 a.m. Monday, Remulla disclosed that the province recorded 86 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
“Apat dito ay galing sa Office of the Provincial Governor. Dalawa ay fully vaccinated na habang yung dalawa ay naka-isang dose pa lamang,” Remulla revealed.
(Four of them are from the Office of the Provincial Governor. Two of them are fully vaccinated while the other two have already had their first dose.)
He added: “Dahil dito, ako ay mapipilitang maghanap ng alternatibong opisina habang hinihintay ang safety quarantine ng mahigit sa 75% na empleado sa kapitolyo.”
(Because of this, I would have to find an alternative office while we are waiting for the completion of the safety quarantine of more than 75 percent of our employees at the capitol.)
He said two of the fully vaccinated employees have been showing mild symptoms to asymptomatic but one of them has infected the whole family.
The two others have moderate symptoms, Remulla said.
Remulla did not specify the brand of vaccine that was received by his infected employees.
He appealed to the national government to immediately deliver more vaccines to the province.
“The second dose for more than 100,000 people is already delayed,” Remulla lamented.
In his live report via social media on July 7, Remulla said at least 3.1 million residents in Cavite have to be vaccinated.
He revealed that only 91,392 had been administered with two doses of vaccines as of July 6.
On his Facebook post, Remulla announced that the private purchase of the Cavite local government for 1,500,000 doses of NOVAVAX vaccines is expected to arrive after a month.
Cavite remains under the general community quarantine status until July 31.
Meanwhile, Cavite police accosted 28,409 quarantine violators from July 12 to 18.
The violators were caught for not wearing face masks, face shield, not observing physical distancing or disregarding the curfew hours in their respective localities, Police Colonel Marlon Santos, Cavite police chief, said in a report n Sunday.
At least 27,265 of the violators were given a warning, 313 paid fines, 832 did community service, while two violators were charged for other offenses they committed.
