Palace wishes Lacson, Sotto ‘the very best’ in their 2022 bid

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Wednesday wished “the very best” for the possible partnering of Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III as presidential and vice presidential bets in the 2022 elections.

“We wish them the very best because in a democracy kinakailangan mayroong pagpipilian ang taumbayan,” Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a press briefing.

Lacson and Sotto, who are currently on a consultative tour around Luzon to meet with different local officials, are planning to announce their candidacies on August 5.

Aside from local officials, they have also talked with religious leaders as well as representatives from the private sectors and got a “very encouraging” response.

The two senators will be in Luzon until Sunday and are planning dates for consultative meetings in Visayas and Mindanao next week.
