MANILA, Philippines — Seventy more COVID-19 patients have died, according to the Department of Health (DOH), pushing the nationwide death toll to 25,720 as of Friday.
The DOH said the case fatality rate, or the percentage of people who have succumbed to the disease among all the confirmed cases, is still currently at 1.76 percent.
A total of 1,461,455 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the country since last year. Of this number, 51,902 remain active.
Of the active cases, 2.2 percent are severe and 1.5 percent are critical that are at higher risk for death.
The DOH reported an average of 106 deaths from July 3 to 9, lower than the average of 117 fatalities from June 26 to July 2.
