Rider dead, 3 hurt in motorcycle-truck collision in Quezon

LUCENA CITY A motorcycle rider died and three others injured in a two-vehicle collision in Sariaya town in Quezon province on Thursday, police said.

The Sariaya police reported that Andres Garcia Jr., 33, was traversing the eco-tourism road aboard a motorcycle when his vehicle collided with the oncoming cargo truck being driven by McDave Segui in Barangay Guisguis San Roque around 3 p.m.

Garcia and his pillion rider, Jessa Mae Lorica, 16, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Lucena United Doctor Hospital in this city.

Garcia died while undergoing treatment.

The report did not state whether or not the two motorcycle riders were wearing crash helmets.

Two passengers of the cargo truck, Kervin Nickil Rejano and Kevin Bacay, also suffered injuries.

Police said both parties agreed to settle the matter amicably. INQ
