Fire ruins 19 houses in Leyte

ORMOC CITY — At least 19 houses were destroyed by fire at Sitio Sabang, Barangay Marvel, Isabel town in Leyte over the weekend, authorities said.

No one was hurt in the fire that broke out at 6 p.m. on July 4, said Senior Fire Officer 1 Eusemer Galos in a telephone interview.

Galos said an investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the fire.

According to the victims, the fire started at the house of a certain Dante Vicera.

Since the houses were mostly made of light materials, the fire quickly spread.

Damage was pegged at P402,000.
