P1.6 M shabu seized from Batangas drug suspect
LUCENA CITY – The drug suspect who was arrested in Batangas City on July 2 yielded over P1.6 million worth of shabu (crystal meth), the regional police top police official reported Sunday.
Calabarzon police director Brigadier General Eliseo Cruz said the suspect, Joseph Alvarez, 31, was found carrying 250 grams of shabu worth an estimated P1,625,000.

On Saturday, the Batangas City police reported the arrest of Alvarez in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Balagtas at around 8:50 p.m.

Cruz disclosed that Alvarez was involved in the proliferation of shabu in Batangas province.
Alvarez was convicted on drug charges and imprisoned at the National Bilibid Prison from 2018 to 2020.
He was granted parole on December 2020.
