DOH reports death of 105 more COVID-19 patients

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported the death of 105 more patients due to COVID-19, an illness caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

According to the health agency, total deaths now stand at 24,662, representing 1.75 percent of all the 1.41 million COVID-19 cases in the country.

Of the nationwide tally of infections, DOH said 48,649 patients remain active, of which 2.2 percent are severe and 1.5 percent are critical or those with higher chances of succumbing to the disease.

A high 90.6 percent of the total infected persons are considered as mild cases, 4.1 percent are asymptomatic while 1.63 are moderately sick, according to DOH.

On a daily average, 104 patients and 115 patients were reported to have died of COVID-19 from June 24-30 and from June 17-23, respectively, based on DOH’s data.
