COVID-19 hits 4,479 more in PH; current patients now at 50,037
MANILA, Philippines — Coronavirus has infected 4,479 more people in the country, bringing the total number of current COVID-19 patients to 50,037 as of Tuesday.
According to a bulletin from the Department of Health (DOH), there are now a total of 1,408,058 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country over a year since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, another 6,471 patients have recuperated, taking the number of recoveries to 1,333,464.
A total of 101 more people have died, which pushed the death toll at 24,557—still at 1.74 percent of all the cases.
According to DOH, 10.7 percent of the 32,044 people who were tested were found positive for coronavirus on Sunday. The DOH said all laboratories were operational on Sunday, but 14 laboratories were not able to submit their data.
Article continues after this advertisementBased on data in the last 14 days, the 14 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 5.4 percent of samples tested and 6.5 percent of positive individuals.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the total count, nine duplicate entries, including seven recoveries, had been removed.
The DOH also said that 28 cases initially tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases and 75 cases tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after validation.
