MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila’s general community quarantine (GCQ) status may not be eased yet, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Monday as the current classifications are set to lapse after June 30.

Members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) are set to meet this Monday afternoon to discuss quarantine classifications of areas for the month of July, Roque said.

“I will not pre-judge pero sa tingin ko po ay GCQ po ang ating current quarantine classifications sa Metro Manila, e siguro po mahirap po magbago ng classification as of now,” Roque said in an online press briefing.

(I will not pre-judge but I think that the current GCQ quarantine classifications, perhaps it’s hard to change that as of now.)

Roque did not elaborate.

President Rodrigo Duterte will deliver a public address this Monday, though Roque said new quarantine classifications will unlikely be announced yet.

The IATF’s recommendations will still be subject to the appeal of various local government units, Roque added.

The so-called NCR Plus, made up of Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite and Laguna are under GCQ until the end of June.
