Drunk student driver kills van owner in freak mishap in Quezon
LUCENA CITY—A drunk student driver ran over the intoxicated owner of the vehicle he was driving in a freak accident Sunday in Tayabas City in Quezon province.
A police report said Fidel Balondo, 53, and Jerry Tabernilla, 29, were having a drinking session at Balondo’s house in Barangay Ibabang Alsam around 5:30 p.m.
The report said Balondo offered to teach Taberbilla how to drive using his van.

But when farmer Tabernilla started the engine and drive, he accidentally hit and consequently ran over Balando.

The victim suffered grave injuries and was taken to the Tayabas Community Hospital at the town center but died while being treated.
The suspect is under police custody for proper disposition.
