CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Ayala Group’s AC Energy and Citicore launched Thursday their 72-megawatt solar farm in a 58-hectare land at the boundary of Arayat and Mexico towns in Pampanga province.

The firms aim to energize around 45,000 homes and create 1,500 jobs, the venture said in a statement.

“Together, we will help augment the much-needed grid capacity during the very tight electricity supply situation as our economy recovers from the effects of the pandemic, “said Eric Francia, AC Energy president and chief executive officer, in a joint statement with Citicore president Oliver Tan.

Citicore claims to be the first and only AgroSolar-Social company in the Philippines.

“We are grateful to play a significant role in this sustainable infrastructure project, especially with respect to boosting local employment, supporting regional economies, and creating a more stable and reliable power supply,” Tan said.

He added: “We are committed to providing our expertise through innovative renewable energy solutions to help accelerate the shift to renewable energy in the consumer’s power needs.” INQ
