Coron, Hinatuan may experience 39°C heat index on Monday, Pagasa warns
MANILA, Philippines — Two areas are expected to experience a high level of heat index on Monday that may reach at 39°C, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its updated 5 p.m. Sunday bulletin, Pagasa reported that its monitoring stations in Coron in Palawan and Hinatuan in Surigao Del Norte forecast a 39°C heat index.

The temperature falls under the “extreme caution” category or 33°C to 41°C, where a person may experience heat cramps and exhaustion. Heat stroke may also be possible with continued exposure to the sun.

To reduce the risk of heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses, the Department of Health urged the public to stay hydrated and minimize outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
It also advised the public to wear loose and lightweight clothing to stay cool amid the scorching heat.
