Escudero: Fly PH flags at half-mast across Sorsogon for 10 days to mourn Noynoy’s death
MANILA, Philippines — Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero on Thursday ordered all Philippine flags in Sorsogon province be flown at half-mast to mourn the death of President Benigno S. Aquino III.
“[F]ormer President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III has passed away today and it is fitting and proper to afford him respect by ordering all National Flags in the Province of Sorsogon to be flown at half-mast,” Escudero said in an executive order.

Under the order, Philippine flags in all buildings and areas where it is displayed in the province should be flown at half-staff for 10 days.
In a separate statement, Escudero remembered Aquino’s dedication to upholding democracy and human rights.

“I was truly saddened to learn the passing of my long-time friend…whose presidency from 2010 to 2016 has been admired by many here and abroad for his deep commitment to democracy, human rights, and curbing corruption,” Escudero said.
“His understanding of the connection of poverty and corruption resonated well during his administration and influenced policies toward empowering the poor while holding public officials accountable for their misdeeds,” he added.
