Davao City lowers flags to half-mast, mourns death of ex-president Aquino

MANILA, Philippines — Flags in Davao City will be flown at half-mast following the death of former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“The City Government of Davao is one with the nation in praying for the eternal repose of the soul of former President Benigno Aquino III,” the city government said in a statement.

“The Philippine flag in the entire Davao City shall be flown at half-mast until his burial,” it added.

Aside from Davao City, Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno said flags in his city will also be lowered to half-mast to mourn the passing of the former president.

Aquino died at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City. He served as the country’s 15th president from 2010 to 2016.
