Pangilinan says LP making efforts to reach out to Lacson, Isko, others

MANILA, Philippines — The Liberal Party is making efforts to reach out to Senators Panfilo Lacson, Nancy Binay, and Joel Villanueva, and Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno as it aims to help bring together the “broadest unity possible” in the 2022 elections.

Senator Francis Pangilinan, who serves as president of the Liberal Party, said this Tuesday in view of the coming national elections next year.

“Nandyan si Senator Lacson, andyan si Senator Villanueva, andyan si Senator Binay, andyan si Isko Moreno, si Vice President Leni [Robredo]. Can you imagine kung lahat yun ay magkaisa para sabihin gusto natin ng mas magandang direksyon ang ating bansa?” Pangilinan told reporters in an interview.

“We really need unity and we really need to come together to provide solutions dito sa mga pagsubok na hinaharap natin [for these challenges we are facing],” he added.

Asked if the Liberal Party has reached out to the personalities he mentioned, Pangilinan said: “There are discussions, may mga pinapaabot na maaaring magkaroon ng pag-uusap [we are sending initiatives to make these talks happen].”

“The Liberal Party is willing to help bring together, with the leadership of our Vice President, help bring together the broadest unity possible come 2022…. Mayroong efforts to reach out,” Pangilinan added.

According to Pangilinan, a “broader unity” for the 2022 elections is critical as he cited previous movements such as the EDSA 1 and EDSA 2 that toppled the leadership during those times.

“Kinabukasan ng ating mga anak ang nakasalalay dito so kahit may gantong mga pagsubok, kailangang lampasan natin at magkaisa tayo [The future of our children is at stake here so even if we have these kinds of challenges, we need to overcome these and unite],” Pangilinan said.
