Eastern Samar barangay health response team members to get P1,000-cash incentive

TACLOBAN CITY—The provincial government of Eastern Samar will provide a P1,000 cash incentive to each member of the barangay health emergency response teams (BHERTs).

Gov. Ben Evardone said the cash incentive would be distributed to more than 15,000 BHERTs in the region starting this week.

“This assistance aims to provide financial relief to local health and emergency workers who have been in the forefront in fighting the spread of coronavirus in the province since the start of the pandemic last year,” Evardone said in a statement.

He instructed all concerned offices to expedite the processing of the payrolls to avoid unnecessary delays in the distribution of the cash aid.

Earlier this year, the provincial government distributed face masks and face shields to BHERTs across the province.

Eastern Samar has 1,791 COVID-19 cases, of which 244 are considered active.
