MANILA, Philippines — Voting out Sen. Manny Pacquiao as Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) president is not on the agenda for the party’s upcoming meeting in July, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Monday.
“Wala sa agenda yan. (It’s not in the agenda.) That was not even in the agenda of the national council meeting in Cebu,” said Nograles, a PDP-Laban member, in an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel when asked if this move is in the party’s agenda in the meeting set July 17.
“When a national council meeting is called or a national assembly is called, meron naman tayong agenda na ilalatag doon. (We have an agenda laid out.) And that agenda even has to pass the approval of the body. We go through the process,” he added.
The election of officers, however, still needs to be concurred by President Rodrigo Duterte as party chairman.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao himself and Senator Koko Pimentel have said they will skip the PDP-Laban meeting to be led by party vice-chairman and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.
Both senators also did not attend the May 31 party meeting, likewise called by Cusi.
