23,000 doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac arrive for Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY Another batch of 23,000 doses of China-made CoronaVac arrived Tuesday, June 15, at the Legazpi Domestic Airport for the inoculation of more health workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities, the Department of Health (DOH) here said.

The vaccines arrived aboard a Cebu Pacific commercial flight from Manila at around 11:25 a.m.

The vaccines were subsequently transported to the DOH cold storage facility for inventory.

The new vaccine delivery was allocated for Camarines Norte (1,600 doses), Camarines Sur (3,900 doses), Catanduanes (1,600 doses), Sorsogon (2,200 doses), and Albay (13,700 doses).

The allocated doses for Albay include almost 10,000 for the unvaccinated health workers under the A1 priority group.

Earlier, additional doses were directly delivered from the national office to the region’s island provinces of Masbate (15,760 doses) on June 13 and Catanduanes (2,320 doses) on June 11.

Said vaccines will be used for priority groups A1, A2, and A3, or the health workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.

The latest arrival of CoronaVac vaccine brings to 51,800 the number of doses of the Sinovac Biotech-developed jab allocated for the region.
