DOH to LGUs in Eastern Visayas: Enforce health protocols, granular lockdowns
TACLOBAN CITY — The Department of Health (DOH) in Eastern Visayas has asked local governments, especially those with a high number of COVID-19 cases, to strictly enforce all health protocols or impose granular lockdowns in specific areas.
The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) in Eastern Visayas earlier passed a resolution recommending to place the region under general community quarantine (GCQ) from its current modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) due to the “alarming” number of infections.
The national IATF, however, did not grant the request.
On Tuesday, the DOH reported 243 new cases of COVID-19 in Eastern Visayas, bringing the total number of infections in the region to 24,725. Of the number, 2,342 are active.
