PH logs 6,426 new COVID-19 infections

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines on Monday logged 6,426 new COVID-19 infections, pushing the nationwide caseload to 1,322,053, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

Of the total, 59,096 infections or 4.5% are “active cases,” but most of them, or 95.7 percent, only have mild or have no symptoms.

According to the DOH, 7,145 patients were able to recuperate from the disease, bringing the total of recoveries to 1,240,112, or 93.8% of the cases.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 22,845 (1.73%) with 57 new fatalities.

Moreover, 10 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

DOH said all laboratories were operational on June 12 but 10 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
