NTF: COVID-19 vaccinations reached 220K a day last week

National Task Force against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon: Vaccinations are being administered more quickly.

MANILA, Philippines — Vaccinations against COVID-19 reached up to 220,000 a day last week, up from the previous average of 150,000 a week, National Task Force against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon said on Monday.

Dizon said the government had administered as many as one million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in the third consecutive week.

The government has administered more than 6.8 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, but only 1.8 million Filipinos are considered fully vaccinated, meaning they have already received two doses.

“Nakikita natin na talagang pabilis nang pabilis ang ating pagbabakuna,” Dizon said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

(We are seeing that vaccinations are happening faster.)

With the recent shipments of vaccines, especially the arrival of one million more doses from China’s Sinovac and 2.2 million US-made Pfizer vaccines, the number of vaccinations per day is expected to go up.

“Kampante tayo at very positive na sa mga susunod na linggo mas madami mababakunahan,” he said.
