P354,000 shabu seized in Rizal drug stings

LUCENA CITY — Anti-narcotics operatives of Rizal police arrested two suspected drug traffickers on Friday and Saturday (March 21 and 22) in separate operations.

They also seized more than P490,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth).

The Region 4A police said a team of operatives in San Mateo town collared “Mayeth” around 8:50 p.m. after selling P500 worth of shabu to a poseur buyer in a buy-bust operation in Barangay (village) Ampid 1.

Seized from the suspect were three plastic sachets and one knot-tied plastic containing shabu weighing 51.5 grams worth about P350,200 as per the valuation of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).

Authorities also confiscated the suspect’s mobile phone, which will be examined for records of drug transactions.

Police tagged Mayeth as a newly identified HVI or high-value individual in the local drug trade.

HVI refers to financiers, traffickers, manufacturers and importers of illegal drugs, or leaders or members of drug groups.

In Tanay town, local drug enforcers arrested “Dagul” in a sting operation in Barangay San Isidro around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The suspect yielded three sachets of meth weighing 21 grams with a DDB value of P142,800.

Rizal police are conducting further investigation to determine the source of the seized shabu.

The suspects were detained and are facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
