1Sambayan eyeing Colmenares in 2022 Senate slate
MANILA, Philippines — Bayan Muna chairperson Neri Colmenares is being considered to be a senatorial candidate under the 1Sambayan coalition, one of its co-convenors said Monday.
Lawyer Howard Calleja, one of the coalition’s co-convenors, said this is the reason why Colmenares was not among the convenors of the group.
“We have agreed that those in the convenors should not be running. I can say now that Congressman Neri is being considered in the senatorial slot for one of the 12 senators that’s why it would be not good if he would remain in the convenor,” Calleja told ABS-CBN News Channel.
Calleja said that “what is clear with us is that he (Colmenares) has agreed to join the process for the selection for the Senate.”
“Whether he would run or not, that is his personal decision, but we were informed that he is willing to have his name in the list of senators included,” he added.
