MANILA, Philippines – Leyte 4th District Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez said Tuesday she is “open” to running for a senatorial post in the 2022 national elections, but added that it is not part of a “grand plan.”
Torres-Gomez, a member of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), made the remark amid the fast-approaching local and national polls next year.
“Nothing of what I have or where I am in terms of my life in public service was ever part of a big plan or a great roadmap. I just move like water,” Torres-Gomez said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel’s Headstart.
“Yes, open but it’s not like it’s part of a grand dream or a grand plan. I have been a legislator for 11 years, if I’m given the opportunity, I know I can hit the ground running,” she added.
Torres-Gomez was elected as the representative of the 4th district of Leyte in 2010 after replacing her husband, Richard Gomez, who was disqualified by the Commission on Elections.
