MANILA, Philippines—San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora has issued executive orders (EO) encouraging employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and businesses to provide incentives and discounts to vaccinated individuals.

The San Juan LGU said Monday that Zamora has issued EO No. 81, which encourages all employees of business establishments allowed to operate in the city to get vaccinated.

Executive Order No. 82, meanwhile, encourages businesses in the city allowed to operate under general community quarantine to provide incentives or discounts to vaccinated customers.

“Both EOs are part of the vaccination program in San Juan City,” Zamora said in a statement.

He noted that providing incentives and discounts to vaccinated individuals will motivate more people to get vaccinated against coronavirus.

“We are resorting to these mechanisms to protect the population and we are lucky that we have received overwhelming support from the private sector and business owners in San Juan. Most of them are more than willing to be part of these efforts,” the mayor said.

“In return, we can assure them that all their workers who are included in the A4 group will be inoculated and this will soon make all the establishments in San Juan safe and free from COVID-19,” he added.

Earlier in May, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez also said that the Department of Trade and Industry is studying proposals from business groups regarding the perks that certain private establishments could grant to people vaccinated against COVID-19.
