MANILA, Philippines — Caloocan mayor Oscar Malapitan and his son, congressman Dale Malapitan have hailed the creation of Caloocan’s third district.
In separate statements issued Thursday, the Malapitans thanked the President for signing the Republic Act No. 11545 otherwise known as “An Act Reapportioning The First Legislative District of the City of Caloocan into Two Legislative Districts.”
Under the newly approved law, which would take effect in the 2022 local and national elections, Barangay 1-4, 77-85, 132-177 will remain part of the first district while Barangay 178-188 will be a part of the new third district.
“Mula District 1, District 2, hanggang sa ating pinakabagong distrito, ang District 3, patuloy po ang ating aksyon at malasakit upang higit na maramdaman na dito sa Caloocan, tao ang laging una,” the mayor said.
(From District 1, District 2, up to our newest District 3, we will continue our efforts to put the people of Caloocan first.)
For his part, Congressman Malapitan said the new district “will pave the way to new leaders that will help shape laws and policies for our citizens.”
“This will help us to be more progressive and responsive, especially in the midst of this crisis,” he added.
