MANILA, Philippines — Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Monday said he is weighing his options on a possible bid for an elective post in the coming 2022 elections.

The labor secretary was once endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte to run for senator.

“Pinag-iisipan ko talaga kasi alam mo naman, gusto ng ating pangulo ay sumubok pa ako pero syempre tignan ko muna ang aking kalusugan, kasi 77 na ako,” Bello said on ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo when asked about his political plans amid reports of fake accounts soliciting donations for his supposed senatorial bid.

(I am really thinking about it because as you know, our president wants me to try, but of course I have consider my health because I am already 77 years old.)

Bello also warned the public to beware of individuals using fake accounts to solicit money for his supposed candidacy and donations to community pantries.

“Iba po ang aking account, peke po yun, wag kayong maniwala doon para makakuha ng donasyon sa, ewan ko ba kung ano yung community pantry, baka naman ibubulsa nila yon,” he said.

(I have a different account, that’s fake, do not fall for it, they are just doing it to get donations, maybe they would just pocket it.)
