Suspected drug pusher nabbed in Calapan City buy-bust

CITY OF CALAPAN – A suspected drug pusher was arrested after a chase in a buy-bust operation Saturday morning in this city.

Report said personnel from Calapan City police, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Mimaropa arrested Mario Lanot, 53, a resident of Gloria town in Oriental Mindoro, at about 7 a.m. in Barangay (village) San Rafael.

Lanot sold a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu (crystal meth) to a poseur buyer, the report said.

But prior to the arrest, the suspect, who was on board a Toyota Hi-Ace Commuter, sensed that he was transacting with a police officer and hurriedly drove away, prompting a “long chase,” said the police.

Lanot was apprehended along Roxas Drive, Barangay Guinobatan.

Confiscated from him were four pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachet and one piece of unsealed sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 3.63 gram and amounting to P25,000.

Confiscated suspected drugs will be brought to the PDEA 4B (Mimaropa) headquarters for laboratory examination.

Arrested suspect is presently under the custody of Calapan police station while complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being prepared against him.
