MANILA, Philippines — A huge part of the country is expected to have hot and humid weather over the weekend as only select areas in Visayas and Mindanao may experience rains due to isolated thunderstorms and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

Weather reports from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday showed that the ITCZ still affects the southern portion of Mindanao, while high moisture content may bring rains over Eastern Visayas.

But for the rest of the country, especially northern Luzon which is affected by a ridge of high pressure, rains would be hard to come by.

Pagasa has not monitored any weather disturbance or low-pressure areas, which means that the country would be storm-free for the next three to five days.

For Saturday, Metro Manila and Tuguegarao would still have scorching temperatures of 25 to 35 degrees Celsius, while Laoag would have 25 to 33 degrees, Tagaytay with 24 to 32 degrees, Legazpi with 26 to 33 degrees, and Puerto Princesa with 27 to 34 degrees.

Visayas and Mindanao would have slightly lower temperatures: Cebu and Tacloban may register something between 26 to 32 degrees Celsius, Iloilo with 27 to 32 degrees, Zamboanga with 25 to 35 degrees, Cagayan de Oro with 24 to 33 degrees, and Davao with 25 to 33 degrees.

No gale warning has been raised which means small boats and fisherfolk can freely sail in any part of the country.
