MANILA, Philippines — Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana announced on Sunday that he’s now COVID-19 free.
“I’m pleased to announce that I’m now COVID-free,” said Lorenzana on a Twitter post on Sunday.
He shared photos of him exercising, explaining that it was the reason he survived despite the odds “not being in his favor” at the age of 72.
I’m pleased to announce that I’m now Covid-free. At 72, the odds are not exactly in my favor. How did I survive? I always maintain my physical and mental health even before I was diagnosed. I am now ready more than ever to serve our nation. pic.twitter.com/IUXqkt1ftW

“I always maintain my physical and mental health even before I was diagnosed,” Lorenzana said.
“I am now ready more than ever to serve our nation,” he added.
A senior citizen, Lorenzana however claimed not to have received vaccine jabs for coronavirus yet, claiming in March that his posing for a picture during the vaccine rollout at a Davao City hospital was only for “photo ops.”
Lorenzana first announced he tested positive for COVID-19 on April 6, immediately going into isolation afterwards.
He was just one among many Cabinet members who had been hit by the viral disease, including Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, and presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
Also struck by coronavirus were Philippine National Police chief Debold Sinas and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Wilkins Villanueva.
In March 2020, Lorenzana first went on quarantine after getting exposed to then Armed Forces chief Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. who tested positive for coronavirus.
