Lorenzana goes on quarantine: ‘But I’ll continue doing my job’

MANILA, Philippines—Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has gone on isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

Results of his coronavirus tests came out on Tuesday (April 6).

“My swab test today turned positive. Thankfully, I don’t feel any symptoms. Rest assured I will continue doing my job while in isolation,” the 72-year-old Cabinet official said in a Facebook post.

Those who came in close contact with Lorenzana have been advised to isolate and get tested.

“I would like to remind everyone that the threat of the virus is as real as ever, more so now due to the new variants. Let us all cooperate and abide by the prescribed health protocols to help in curbing the spread of COVID-19,” he said in a separate statement.

The Department of National Defense will continue to operate within a skeleton workforce to ensure continuity of service, and abiding by prescribed health protocols, he said.
