Red Cross puts up 20-bed emergency ward at NKTI

/ 04:33 AM April 25, 2021

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Saturday said it set up a 20-bed emergency ward on the grounds of National Kidney Transplant Institute (NKTI) after reports emerged that patients had been sleeping on the ground outside NKTI due to lack of available space in the hospital. The 20-bed facility is in addition to the 100-bed emergency field hospital put up at the Lung Center of the Philippines. “We don’t want any more Filipinos to die without even being admitted to the hospital and given medical attention,” Sen. Richard Gordon, chair and CEO of PRC, said in the statement.
