Revival of cash subsidy for electricity use pushed

/ 04:31 AM April 25, 2021

A lawmaker wants to revive and expand the Pantawid Kuryente Program to provide subsidies to customers in Metro Manila and nearby provinces with low electricity consumption. Bagong Henerasyon Rep. Bernadette Herrera urged the revival of the subsidy program “to include not just the lifeline consumers, but also households with monthly electricity consumption of less than 200 kilowatts per hour.” She proposed that a household with a maximum usage of 50 kWh per month be given a one-time discount of 100 percent.
