MANILA, Philippines — A fire burned down 10 houses in a residential area in Quezon City on Tuesday evening, affecting 12 families, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.

In a report on Wednesday, BFP said the fire started in a bungalow owned by a Nestro Arminal located in Riverside, Brgy. Sauyo.

While there were no casualties nor injuries, BFP said the estimated damage caused by the fire reached P50,000.

The first alarm was raised at 8:26 p.m. while the second alarm was raised 10 minutes after.

The fire was declared under control at 9:15 p.m. and was extinguished at 9:28 p.m.

The fire was documented by some residents and posted on social media, among them Dindo Montano Alvarez.

Initial reports said the fire may have been due to a candle that was left unattended, BFP said. However some residents interviewed by ABS-CBN Teleradyo said that some children had been seen playing with a candle prior to the incident. — Liezelle Soriano Roy, Trainee
