MANILA, Philippines — The curfew hours in Cavite province has been set to 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the implementation of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), Governor Jonvic Remulla announced Wednesday.
The curfew hours in the province during the ECQ period was set at 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. but on Monday, it was adjusted to 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
This latest change in curfew hours is to match that of other areas under the “NCR Plus” bubble that is also under MECQ, like Metro Manila and Rizal.
“Kasabay na po natin ang NCR+,” Remulla further said in his Facebook post.
Under MECQ, al fresco or outdoor dining will also be allowed, Remulla said, but cautioned residents from going out of their homes if not necessary.
Retail stores, meanwhile, are allowed to operate at mall hours, with the same mall rules.
Religious activities are also allowed at 10% capacity. In weddings or baptisms, Remulla reminded his constituents to avoid talking while eating in receptions since this is where COVID-19 transmission happens.
Other celebrations and group gatherings remain prohibited, he said.
Remulla said the effects of the two-week ECQ are felt, noting that new cases in the province dropped to over 180 compared to the peak of 1,884 cases 10 days ago.
He cautioned Cavite residents to take extra care, pointing out that a 40-year-old official in the province’s Commission on Elections (Comelec) office has recently died, while four other government employees have died in the last five days.
“Mag-ingat ng todo. Walang bulletproof sa COVID. Kahit bata pa ay tinatamaan,” he said.

As of April 13, the Philippines has 884,783 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 165,534 active cases, 703,963 recoveries and 15,286 deaths.
