MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 infections is currently at 157,451, after the Department of Health (DOH) tallied 11,378 new cases on Monday, April 12.

According to DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin, 267 more patients recovered from the virus, for a total recovery tally of 703,625; 204 new deaths meant that the death toll has now breached the 15,000 mark.

All in all, the country’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases is at 876,225.

Most of the patients or 97.0 percent of active cases have still exhibited mild symptoms only, while 1.7 percent were asymptomatic.  At least 0.6 percent of the patients currently have severe symptoms while 0.5 percent are in critical condition.

Of the 27,378 tests conducted on Sunday, DOH said that 19.5 percent tested positive.  In terms of COVID-19 bed capacity in the National Capital Region which is still grappling with a surge in cases, 86 percent of intensive care unit beds have been utilized while 69 percent of isolation beds are occupied.

Despite the high number of cases, six laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on Sunday.

Also, 21 duplicate entries were removed from the total case count, 12 of which were listed as recoveries; while  34 cases previously classified as recoveries were moved to the death toll after further validation.
