Around 26 hospitals, meanwhile, were tagged under high-risk status, slightly higher than the previously recorded 23 hospitals.

The recent data also bared that 154 facilities have submitted their data and were categorized based on their occupancy levels while only 152 hospitals were listed in the health department’s COVID-19 tracker last week.

In addition, the same DOH data showed that around 80.57 percent or 597 of 741 total Intensive Care Unite (ICU) beds solely for COVID-19 patients in Metro Manila hospitals are already in use.

The health department further indicated that as of April 7, some 73.07 percent or 3,557 of 4,868 isolation beds, and 59.65 percent or 2,297 of 3,851 ward beds in NCR are likewise occupied.

Overall, it noted that bed occupancy rate for the whole NCR reached 68.2 percent, with 6,451 of the total 9,460 beds in use.

DOH classifies occupancy levels for COVID-19 beds in health centers as either critical, high risk, moderate, and safe.

Under the critical level, hospitals have already reached more than 85 percent of their bed occupancy for COVID-19 patients.

Hospitals are classified as high risk if 70 percent but not more than 85 percent of its COVID-19 beds are occupied, while those with a COVID-19 bed capacity of 60 to 70 percent rate are classified as moderate.

Hospitals fall under the safe level if their bed utilization rate is less than 60 percent.

However, only hospitals in Metro Manila that have information on COVID-19 bed allocation for the treatment of new coronavirus patients were included in this article.
