Catacutan of Capas second Tarlac mayor to get infected with coronavirus

TARLAC CITY—Capas town Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan has tested positive for SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19, the local government announced on Tuesday (April 6).

The municipal health office said Catacutan could have been infected through his exposure to the public.

The mayor’s office will be closed for disinfection and his staff members were already subjected to tests.

Yap said officials would enforce tighter measures and encouraged residents of the province to use an app called “Mata” for quick contact tracing. It was not clear if this defied a statement made by the Department of Interior and Local Government for local governments to use a single app for contact tracing, StaySafePH.

Last Sunday (April 4), Concepcion town Mayor Andres Lacson had also tested positive for the virus.
