MANILA, Philippines — A fire that engulfed the upper floors of a commercial building in Makati has been put out, the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) office said on Tuesday afternoon.
According to BFP Makati, the fire hit the roof deck of the Vernida IV building located on L.P. Leviste Street of Makati’s Salcedo Village.
It was declared fire out by 3:48 p.m., firefighters said.
As of writing, no cause of the fire has been pinpointed, although arson investigators are already on the ground to check the incident. Before being declared fire out, a second alarm was raised by local firefighters.
Footage taken by people within the vicinity of Makati’s business district — which had gone viral over social media — showed the building’s top two floors burning as firefighters try to douse the flames by accessing the adjacent buildings.
