Ex-cop in Valenzuela robbery-slay killed

A dismissed policeman, who was the mastermind of the robbery-slay of Niño Luegi Hernando, 39, a company messenger in Valenzuela City, was killed in a gunfight with police officers sent to arrest him in Lipa City, Batangas.

Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, officer in charge of the Philippine National Police, identified the suspect as Anthony Cubos, alias Big Boss.

The policemen were serving Cubos a warrant of arrest for robbery with homicide on Wednesday night when he fired at the arresting police officers.

The police officers fired back, killing Cubos on the spot. —Dexter Cabalza
