All Holy Week activities in Manila suspended

/ 05:14 AM March 20, 2021

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has suspended all Holy Week activities in Manila due to the surging number of new coronavirus cases in the city.

The religious holiday observed by Catholics, which starts on March 29 includes rituals and customs, such as the penitensya, Visita Iglesia and caridad.

Domagoso said the suspension would prevent large public gatherings that could easily turn into superspreader events. —Jodee A. Agoncillo
