Fake staff member of Sen. Go nabbed for alleged extortion in Batangas

LUCENA CITY –– A man posing as a staff member of Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go was arrested for extortion during an entrapment operation in San Jose town in Batangas province Wednesday.

A police report said authorities collared Arnel Sequijor, 35, in Barangay Pinagtungulan around 3 a.m.

Sequijor, a resident of San Juan town, had allegedly targeted Normita Recinto, the chief of staff of San Jose Mayor Valentino Patron.

He allegedly told her in text messages and phone calls that he was a staff member of Go.

Recinto reported to the police that Sequijor had demanded P50,000 from her. Police immediately set up an entrapment to catch the suspect.

Aside from the entrapment money, the police also reportedly recovered a loaded caliber .45 pistol, two more magazines with 10 bullets, and a mobile phone.

The report did not have details on why the suspect was demanding money.

The suspect was detained at the police jail while charges are prepared against him.
