MANILA, Philippines — The Pasay City government on Thursday conducted disinfection drives in areas under lockdown in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the locality.
In a video by Radyo INQUIRER, barangay health personnel could be seen fogging several houses.
Barangay environmental protection team Belinda Guillermo said they disinfected the homes of residents who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19, as well as those who request for disinfection.
“‘Yung mga symptomatic lang na mga residente ang dinisinfect namin. ‘Yung iba rin na gusto magpa-disinfect, may iba rin na ayaw,” she said in an interview.
She added that they will return to the area from time to time for disinfection.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano earlier ordered to place under lockdown for 14 days the entire Barangay 183, and some 210 houses located in 77 other barangays due to rising COVID-19 cases in the areas.
The Department of Health earlier reported its discovery of six cases of the COVID-19 South African variant in the country. Of the six, three were said to be from Pasay City. The department however could not say yet if the new, more contagious variant had to do with the spike of infection rate in the city.
