LUCENA CITY –– Two more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients in Quezon have died as the number of remaining active cases in the province dropped to its lowest daily tally, authorities said Tuesday, March 2.
The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), in its 10 a.m. report, said the latest deaths were in Tayabas City and Sariaya town.
The Tayabas public information office said the 22nd COVID-19 fatality in the locality was a 74-year-old man from Barangay Isabang.
No details were given on the latest fatality in Sariaya.
The total death toll in the province jumped to 259. At least 65 were from Lucena.
The number of active virus carriers in Quezon has dropped to 159, the lowest tally in the IPHO’s twice-a-day count after it peaked to 1,119 on Nov. 12 last year.
Quezon, still under modified general community quarantine status, recorded 7,267 Covid-19 cases and 6,849 recoveries since the pandemic was declared in March last year.
