MANILA, Philippines — The San Juan City government on Tuesday said it already made a down payment for the 100,000 doses of vaccines developed by British-Swedish drugmaker AstraZeneca.
But the San Juan Public Information Office said it could not reveal the amount it deposited because it signed a “non-disclosure agreement with the national government and AstraZeneca.”
“San Juan City already made a down payment yesterday, February 22, 2021, to AstraZeneca, as part of our contractual obligation for the 100,000 doses of vaccine we ordered. While waiting for the vaccines, the city is preparing for its arrival including regular simulation activities to improve the vaccination process,” San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora said in a statement.
To date, 27,065 people have signed up for the city’s Covid-19 immunization program. Of the number, 3,456 are health workers.
Currently, San Juan City has recorded 3,879 Covid-19 positive persons including 47 active cases, 3,726 recovered patients, and 106 fatalities.
The local government ordered the Covid-19 jab from AstraZeneca in January for its immunization drive.
