‘All-out war’ on crimes: 98 arrested in Mimaropa region

CITY OF CALAPAN – Police in the region of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (Mimaropa) arrested 98 persons during 23 operations from Feb. 1 to 7, a report said on Tuesday (Feb. 9).

Lt. Col. Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa police information officer, said the operations were part of a nationwide all-out war on crimes.

Of those arrested, 63 were during operations against wanted persons. At least 35 were for violations of special laws. Eleven of the arrested wanted persons were on most wanted lists.

Two guns were seized during the operations, dubbed Oplan Katok.

At least 13 of those arrested faced drug cases and had been found in possession of meth.

Two were arrested for illegal logging and possession of chainsaws. Four were arrested for illegal gambling.

Police in Oriental Mindoro had the most arrest, 38. At least 22 were arrested in Palawan, 15 in Occidental Mindoro and seven each in Marinduque and Romblon.

A previous 91 operations led to 69 arrests.
