LAOAG CITY – An 82-year old returning resident of Bacarra town is Ilocos Norte’s fourth fatality from the coronavirus disease, health officials said on Friday.

The elderly man displayed symptoms of the virus on Dec. 24, 2020 and was confined at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) in Batac City on Jan. 4 after testing positive for the virus, the provincial government said.

The patient did not recover from the virus and died on Feb. 4, said Dr. Marie Joyce Santos, MMMH&MC’s infectious disease specialist. Santos said the old man was hypertensive.
