Environment office worker slain in Zambo del Sur
PAGADIAN CITY—An employee of the Zamboanga del Sur provincial environment and natural resources office (Penro) was shot and killed at a an anti-logging checkpoint in Labangan town on Wednesday (Feb. 3).
Maj. Olympus Wee Bas, chief of the Labangan police, said Darwin Lacerna Adamos, a deputy checker at Penro, was on duty at the checkpoint when two suspects on a motorcycle stopped nearby.
One of the suspects alighted and shot Adamos repeatedly with the attack caught on security camera video.
Bas said the assailants fled toward the town center after shooting Adamos.
Investigators found .45 caliber slugs on the crime scene.
Labangan police has launched a pursuit operation.
