Quezon province logs 4 more COVID-19 deaths
LUCENA CITY –– Health authorities in Quezon recorded four more fatalities from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday and Tuesday, bringing the total death toll in the province to 228.
The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), in its 10 a.m. bulletin Tuesday, Feb, 2, disclosed that two validated virus carriers in Plaridel town and the island municipality of Perez were listed as the latest fatalities.
On Monday, the town of Tiaong and Tayabas City recorded the death of one COVID-19 patient each.
The IPHO records showed that a total of 228 virus carriers have died in Quezon since the pandemic was declared in March last year. At least 36 of them were recorded into the first month of 2021.
Quezon, which remains under the modified general community quarantine status, has logged a total of 6,938 COVID-19 cases and 6,418 recoveries.
The IPHO report shows that the number of active virus carriers in the province decreased to 292 from 343 on Jan. 31, with 74 recoveries and 27 new cases on Monday and Tuesday.
Lucena City, the provincial capital, recorded 1,528 COVID-19 cases, 1,424 recoveries, and 55 fatalities, the highest in the province.
The city still has 49 active virus carriers as of Tuesday morning.
