COTABATO CITY — Eight people were injured when a wayward dump truck loaded with gravel hit the lead car of the convoy of Kudarat Gov. Suharto Mangudadatu on Saturday.
The vehicular accident happened at around 10 a.m. along the national highway in Baca village, Datu Odin Sinsuat town.
Major General Juvymax Uy, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said Mangudadatu was unhurt in the accident.
Among those injured were six soldiers of the Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion who were aboard the pickup vehicle that served as Mangudadatu’s Cotabato City-bound convoy.
Two civilians standing by the roadside were also hurt, witnesses said.
Mangudadatu has vowed to support the medical needs of those hurt in the accident.
